Imsys AB: Month of May Letter from the CEO

Imsys' business continues to develop in a positive direction at a high pace.

· The launch of IM4000 is developing according to plan

· Two more patent applications will be filed in June 2021!

Summer is just around the corner and this means that many of us are looking forward to well-deserved holidays. For those of us who work at Imsys, there is a lot to do all summer. Work is in full swing. The interest in IM 4000 is great and the realization of our accelerator ALICE requires resources.

The launch of IM 4000

In a recent press release, Imsys announced its objective of having a first customer for IM 4000 before end of June. We are in the process of delivering on this. Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed last week with a deadline in short for the complete agreement to be signed. It is worth noting that this is only the first agreement. The market is significantly larger.

More about our views on IM 4000

Imsys is working to attract more customers to realize the benefits of IM 4000. This product carries aspirations of creating a cash flow over the next two to three years. We see that the potential is significant for IM 4000. The total market is however difficult to estimate. An indication of the size of the market, given the fact that 7 million microprocessors are manufactured every day on licenses from ARM (there are several major players in microprocessors). If IM 4000 could replace 2% of these, it would mean 140,000 microprocessors per day. On an annual basis this share of more than 50 million per year corresponds to a value of several hundred million SEK.

ALICE

With regard to Imsys accelerator solution ALICE, our planning is in line with what has previously been communicated. Our most important task is to recruit employees with cutting-edge expertise. We continue to work on this and I expect to return to this issue in my next CEO letter.

Patent applications

A strategically important part of our work is to develop and strengthen Imsys' patent portfolio. As part of this work, two patent applications were filed at the end of May. Two more patent applications have been completed and these will be submitted to the patent authority shortly. This means that during the last six-month period we have filed four patent applications. We are investigating opportunities to apply for several patents. The patent portfolio is an important competitive factor for us and Imsys works continuously to seek opportunities to broaden and deepen our patent portfolio. This creates both commercial value and shareholder value.

The semiconductor shortage

In 2021, we have been reached by messages of global semiconductor shortages. Leading industrial companies have been forced to reduce production plans due to insufficient deliveries. The phenomenon is not new. It clearly illustrates the strong dependence in many industries on supply of semiconductors. All important products contain semiconductors and it is complicated to manage short deliveries.

For Imsys, the short supply of semiconductors means that many industrial companies open to review their current suppliers and to invite new one. This opens up opportunities for Imsys. On the negative side, it requires Imsys to create delivery capacity in a market with a shortage of capacity in manufacturing of circuits.

About Imsys' relationship to AI

Artificial Intelligence creates a gigantic growth opportunity for Imsys. For the semiconductor industry, AI means a transition from delivering standard circuits to mobile phones, laptops and servers, to delivering IPR and technology to a multitude of industrial companies, each of which, wants to create unique AI solutions for different types of products. The transition favors pure design and development companies because these customers various AI solutions require adaptation to multiple products and product lines and not the other way around, as has historically often been the case.

Flexible microprocessors and microprocessor companies such as Imsys, which develops products with scalable performance, have an opportunity. It is important to take advantage of it!
