Unibap concludes contract with European Space Agency (ESA) under the InCubed program for increased functionality in SpaceCloud
Unibap AB (publ.) is accelerating the rollout of its computer solutions and software for cloud computing and cloud services in space under the name SpaceCloud™. The European Space Agency (ESA) has selected Unibap's proposal under the InCubed programme for enhanced software functionality and standardization in Unibap's SpaceCloud™ Services framework. The project is implemented during April 2020 to December 2020 and has a value of approximately SEK 1.2 million. Unibap will in addition carry out marketing activities and business development to position Europe in downstream data driven value services. The project will also provide a basis for a possible expansion of a full-scale demonstration of SpaceCloud™ in a European in-orbit demonstration (IOD) satellite.
In the first phase of the project, Unibap will expand the SpaceCloud™ framework with initial core Applications to launch a data-driven business model for cloud services in space.
Unibap enables in-house or third-party application development for low latency data product generation within the SpaceCloud™ framework, e.g. precision agriculture, crisis management, forest fire detection, oil spill and data communication.
Marketing activities will also be implemented to stimulate the creation of Applications / Function modules within SpaceCloud™. This project expands further on Unibap's previous product investments and machine learning onboard computer solution being provided to NASA's Hyperspectral Thermal Imaging (HYTI) mission.
The project is supported by ESA's application centre for future Earth observation in Rome, Italy within the InCubed program.
