ARCTIC MINERALS COMMENCES EXPLORATION PROGRAM IN FINLAND

Arctic Minerals AB is pleased to announce the start of its Finnish exploration program for 2018.  Initial work will consist of a detailed review of existing data compiled from the Geological Survey of Finland and other sources.  This data covers Arctic Minerals' 5,735 km2 of exploration reservations in central Finland and southern Finnish Lapland.  The purpose of the data review is to assist in the selection of priority exploration targets for detailed follow-up work and eventual drilling.

  • Central Finland: geophysical interpretation targeting copper and zinc, with associated lead, silver and gold in the Raahe-Ladoga belt
  • Northern Finland: geophysical interpretation targeting copper and gold in the Peräpohja belt

In central Finland Arctic Minerals has reservations covering 4,265 km2 of the Raahe-Ladoga belt (sometimes known as the "central Finland Ore Belt").  These reservations are mainly in the area between the currently producing Pyhäsalmi copper-zinc-pyrite mine and the formerly-producing Vihanti zinc mine (closed in 1992).  The exploration targets in the Pyhäsalmi-Vihanti area are copper and zinc with associated lead, silver and gold.  In the Peräpohja belt, situated north of Kemi, the company has 1,469 km2 of reservations.  The target metals in this area are copper and gold.

Arctic Minerals has now begun two programs to review various existing data.  The first will be carried out by the Geological Survey of Finland ("GTK").  In 2007 - 2010 GTK carried out a detailed reflection seismic survey which included the area around the Vihanti mine.  Arctic Minerals has therefore engaged GTK to investigate the possibility of identifying bodies of sulphide mineralisation in these data sets, in addition to identifying additional targets.

The company has also engaged GRM-services Oy, a Finnish geophysical contractor, to carry out identification of conductive bodies such as sulphide mineralisation in regional geophysical data sets within all the company's reservations. Bodies with potential for depth continuation and significant size will be selected for more detailed investigation and possible follow-up.

The company anticipates that the above work programs will be completed by May 2018 and will enable it to identify priority exploration targets for further work during the summer.
